I would like to introduce you to the incredible designer Lie Sang Bong from South Korea.
I believe he is worthy of an entire blog.
I discovered Lie's collection during Paris fashion week last year. I was struck by his wonderful use of colour and motifs. His ready to wear collections show the perfect pairing of architectural silhouettes with the feminine form. Splashes of rich reds and violets are among the energetic colours that define his vivid palette. His mastery of voluminous and geometric shapes, and his exquisite use of pleats bring to life a unique vision. His marriage of elegant french fashion and exquisite Oriental sensibilities generates pieces with an unmistakable visual personality that he cultivates in the most natural way
Lie's reputation is at an all time high, and he holds the status of being one of the most influencial people in South Korea. Know around the word as the "Korean McQueen", Lie has dressed word-renowned celebrities including Beyonce, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Peaches, Lindsay Lohan and Juliette Binoche.

Lie Sang Bong's Spring/Summer 13 collection is inspired by butterflies, a symbol of transformation. The inspiration came from a sense of nostalgia for 60's fashion and the designer's childhood memories. The collection explores retro elements and transforms them into modern shapes and volumes.
The silhouettes reference the shapes of butterflies, which are interpreted in sophisticated architectural and structural forms
The collection focuses on drapery, harmonious combinations of surfaces and spaces with a mix of fabrics and details that highlight the precise tailoring of these modern classics. Multiple cuts in jackets and dresses create body-conscious shapes. Houndstooth prints in neon and vivid red pop colours make playful colour blocking.
The use of fabrics such as silk, wool, and silk cotton make the collection soft but architectural . The main colours of the season are white, black, red and green.
